Parent to Parent
“Parent to Parent support should be an essential component of a comprehensive family support system.”
(Singer, G.H.S., Marquis, J., Powers, L., Blanchard, L., DiVenere, N., Santelli, B., & Sharp, M. (1999). A multi-site evaluation of Parent to Parent programs for parents of children with disabilities. Journal of Early Intervention, 22(3), 217-229.)
One of the most impactful services that PRO offers is the Parent-to-Parent program, in which family members of a child or young adult with disabilities are matched with a trained Support Parent to receive support in your parenting journey. Our program matches families statewide or seeks matches nationally if no local connections are available. What can you expect from the program? Personal telephone or text support from another parent who has walked the path of parenting a child with a disability or complex medical needs.
PRO is an alliance member of Parent-to-Parent USA which develops and promotes evidence-based practices for family support.
To request a match or to inquire about training as a Support Parent, please call or email PRO at (505) 247-0192.
