Parents Reaching Out is a statewide non-profit organization that works with parents, caregivers, educators and other professionals to promote healthy, positive and caring experiences for New Mexico families and children. Founded in 1981 by families who had children with special health and developmental needs, we expanded our scope to serve all families and children in 1998. Parents Reaching Out has been a resource connection for New Mexico families for over twenty years. Our staff of parents and family volunteer network is located throughout the state and reflects the diverse culture and ethnic makeup of our communities.
We are registered with the Internal Revenue service as a 501(c) 3 organization. Our focus is working with and providing parents, caregivers, educators and other professionals the resources and tools they need to promote healthy, positive and caring experiences for families and children throughout New Mexico. We have developed a wide and supportive circle of partners with state and community agencies throughout New Mexico that continues to enhance our outreach connections with families and the professionals who serve them. Our partnerships and the generosity of donors have enabled us to continue to develop materials, programs and workshops as we collaborate to effect positive change for families in our state.
Gifts to Parents Reaching Out are used to fund the programmatic initiatives that assist children and their families. Gifts can be made several ways and can take several forms. Parents Reaching Out makes over 250, 000 contacts each year. 30,000 of these contacts are made in a personal manner through workshops, presentations and meetings. During these face to face opportunities we serve over 45,000 families and approximately 30,000 professionals. When we do our job, parents have the tools and resources they need to navigate the systems as supportive partnerships develop within communities. Many of the state and federal programs that once funded these programs have been eliminated or curtailed. Yet, Parents Reaching Out continues providing information, workshops, support and referrals despite a gap in funding.

This year’s Annual Fundraiser is a celebration of our 25th Anniversary as your one stop resource for stronger families in New Mexico. The event will be held at Gardunos at the Balloon Fiesta Park on Saturday, June 28, 2008 and will include a benefit dinner, dance and silent auction. All proceeds from our Annual Fundraiser will go toward helping Parents Reaching Out continue to fulfill its mission.
We would appreciate your support for this wonderful event. There are several ways that you could help. The first would be as a sponsor for the event. The second could be a cash donation or donated item/service for our silent auction. Or third, you could purchase a table at the event in June at which you could attend or have several of your valued employees attend and represent your office.
When you make a contribution to Parents Reaching Out, you are investing in brighter futures for families and children in New Mexico. It is through the generous gifts of individuals such as yourself that Parents Reaching Out was able to help over 56,000 families last year. We hope you are able to help us. Gifts of cash can be used immediately to meet the needs of the Parents Reaching Out and enables us to respond quickly to opportunities as they arise. Gift of cash also offer you important tax benefits if you itemize your returns.

Giving a gift in memory of or in honor of someone serves a two-fold purpose. Not only do you commemorate and honor someone but you also help contribute to positive outcomes for children and families in New Mexico. All memorial and honor gifts will be acknowledged through a personal note sent by Parents Reaching Out to the honored person(s) and/or their family members.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution in memory of, in tribute or in honor of someone, or to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, or wedding, please contact Sallie VanCuren at Parents Reaching Out. You will be asked to provide your memorial or honoree information in your request. Include the name and address of the honoree, or if you are making a memorial gift, please include the family address of the person being remembered.
Gifts of securities make an attractive contribution, particularly for those securities that have increased in value. Gifts can be deducted at full market value on the date of the transfer, and in most cases, are not subject to tax on the appreciated value.
Parents Reaching Out can be included in your will, either by naming a specific bequest or by naming the Parents Reaching Out as a remainder beneficiary after specific amounts have been allocated to other beneficiaries. By adding the Parents Reaching Out to your will through a codicil, you eliminate the need to redraft the will in its entirety. Bequests are an essential method of building Parents Reaching Out's endowment in perpetuity.
