The Disabilities Concerns Subcommittee of the Legislative Health and Human Services Interim Committee with meet on October 7 from 9 am- 5 pm at the Southwest Disability Conference in the Picuris Room of the Albuquerque Convention Center.  A presentation will take place, from 9:45 to 11:15 am on a proposed “Family Support Waiver” and an “Autism Waiver.” The goal of these waivers is to increase supports for families of children under the age of 19  with disabilities and special healthcare needs that  were eliminated by Centennial Care such as more than 100 hours of respite and to ease the 11-15 year Developmental Disabilities Waitlist.
A group of disability advocates is also proposing a tailored waiver specific to people of all ages with Autism to provide the focused systems of support for this population of New Mexicans in the hopes of creating better outcomes for people with autism. Hello, my name is _________ and I live in _____(city or county). I have child, under the age of 19, with disabilities and Centennial Care is letting us down. 100 hours of respite is not enough for New Mexico’s hard working families. It’s not enough for my family.  I am asking you to support Family Support/Autism waivers. Let’s put New Mexico’s kids first.  Thank you for your time.
